Possibly interested in a cheap (up to 7k) Abarth, anywhere I should be looking apart from the usual Autotrader and Ebay? Any specialist dealers you can recommend?

Also, it appears hardly anyone chose the correct colour from new, there seems to be hardly any red ones for sale! Unless owners of red Abarths hold on to them? For some reason, I'm of the opinion that a sporty Italian car should be red, cheesy I know...

...I'd probably settle for the right car in grey if push comes to shove

Dylan - if you're on Facebook, then check out the 'Abarth Owners Club' page and join up.
There are always owners who are looking to sell - or place a wanted ad.

My wife had a red (pre595) 500 abarth.

ETA buy a 595 over a 500 (which we did). They fixed the front suspension and a lot less crashy as a result.

Great little cars. Very 90's hot hatch in feel.

Well that explains why I can't find one then!

I know it's a stereotype, but sporty Italian cars should be red! (Alfas should have a V6, BMWs should have a straight 6, American cars should have V8s, MGBs and Classic Minis should be BRG, I could go on and on!)

The 2012 MY changes (introduction of 595 badges models and Turismo/Competizione) models brought in red and the baby blue ( the name of which evades my Chivas addled brain

Pretty certain ‘Pasodoble Red’ was available from launch of the Abarth 500. Changed the name to ‘Officina Red’ with the 595. Current Abarth Red from 2016 onwards, which is much brighter.

2009 brochure here if want to have a look at the original spec.

Dylan.
Did you ever get fixed up with a red Abarth...?
Only asking as I noticed there's someone on the Abarth Owners Club Facebook page (as I mentioned above) who's selling a red 2015 Abarth for £8k (don't think there's anything available for £7k).
If you joined the F/B page, then it's someone called 'Chris Picken' who's selling.
It's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with me - I just saw the ad and remembered your P/Heads post.
Here's the ad spec -

"For Sale: 2015 Abarth 500 Custom 135 - £7,990
Very sadly, we have to sell our lovely little Abarth 500. He's a 135bhp Custom, 38,000 miles with full service history finished in Rosso Sfrontato red.
Factory extras include:
Dark Tinted Rear Quarter Windows
Automatic Climate Control
Electric Glass Sunroof
Red Brake Calipers
Interscope Hifi
Rear Parking Sensors
Full Leather Seats
On top of this, we've fitted cruise control, a Sony double DIN DAB radio with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an Armster 2 centre arm rest. All 4 alloys have just been refurbished. Rear tyres are brand new Uniroyal Rainsport 5's, fronts are Prestivo PV-S1's with 4.5mm tread. Last service was 500 miles ago and the MOT is until April 2021.
This is a fantastic spec for a Custom. He's brilliant to drive, especially with the cruise control on long journeys. We drove him to Milan for Abarth Days last October and he didn't miss a beat.
We are the 2nd owners from new and there is no outstanding finance on the car.
We're based in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Price is £7,990"

That's a really good spec for a custom, must have paid close to the price for the next model up

Quick question for all you owners... how big is the boot?

Looking at a change of configuration on our cars (currently an XC90 and a Honda CRV).

Plan is that the Honda will go and be replaced by something small but it will need to be able to get our dog (25kg English Pointer Cross) into the boot on a regular basis.

I’d say not, as well as the length/width the headroom would be restricted by the slope of the tailgate

Not sure how big a pointer is but our cocker spaniel goes on the boot of ours all the time. We remove the parcel shelf and put a square dog bed in.

She's quite long (certainly bigger than a cocker). Might see if we can find one local to us to have a look at.
