Many thanks for the information.
Bit concerning if cars have been stood around for a few years open to the elements before being registered.
A few 2019 cars for sale that I assume would have main dealer warranty until 2022. Would that cover signs of corrosion ?.

There a few on the auto-trader but not one GT that I can find with a hard top.
I would prefer an auto but not a deal breaker if I could find a GT with all the extras.

There really wasn't many GT's sold.

Manufacturers warranty wouldn't cover under body corrosion. Also check the boot recess's, just behind the rubber seal for the boot lid, that would be covered by warranty, there was a few people on the Facebook group that had that sorted.

Just take some overalls with you and have a look underneath.

If it's badly rusty you'll see it, or if it's covered in a sticky black oil type residue, then find another car.

The boot recess showing the bubbling that many people have encountered.

The lighter wheels on the GT are easy enough to buy.

They are OZ Ultraleggeras, a beautiful wheel.

once again many thanks for the information. I will try and join the face book group for more experience's and issues owners may have had.

Plus the fun factor of driving and owning one.

You're welcome.

The Facebook group was very good when I was on it.

Find a good one and I'm sure you'll love the car.

It's one of the few cars I've owned that I could see me having another one at one point.

Started to get my head around the options now.

Still unable to find a GT for sale with the hard top.

I would really like the later headlights with the wash function, bose sound system, navigation and red and black Abarth seats. Automatic gearbox although not a deal breaker.

66 cars on autotrader this evening will so slowly work my way through them......

My wife really liked the test drive after we spotted one in Fiat/Abarth dealer when getting daughters Fiat500 serviced in early 2018. Her 'must haves' at the time were Auto/Cruise and Heated Seats - due to her weekly motorway slog between Manchester and Birmingham at that time. Doing that in a manual whilst doing the obligatory handsfree calls etc. was her reason. And preventing getting speeding tickets. And she relly loved it - gave it the name "Incy" - for obvious reasons... When I first drove it in anger, it reminded me of the first time I drove my MGB Roadster (in 1984!) - more to do with the way it handled rather than the performance. Its a real sports car, great fun and can be picked up for good value. I have been watching the finance cars from FCA and Leasys going through the Manheim Auction site since October, maybe a couple of hundred cars (I bought my wife the car from the finance company) of all mileages and conditions. Really is a fun second car. I'm 6'2" and have no real issues getting the right driving position - albeit seat is at limit. Its been garage-sharing with my previous BMW 640D and current Z4M - both of which don't match it for fun, although outstrip it on longer journeys. If anyone needs to know the going price (auction also attracts buyers fees) at certain mileages give me a ping. We also have a 595 which is a blast of a run around smile

Thanks again for the update.
I have checked out the Mannheim site today.
Not to sure I am brave enough to buy one from an auction site though, I have narrowed it down to four cars at the moment so will start phoning around in the morning. We have no part exchange as this will be added to the other toys as another option to use on a weekend.
Still not managed to find a GT though. Some dealers advertise them as a GT but when I ask about the hard top they seem to think they do not have a hard top.

Plenty for sale but I ideally want an automatic with visibility pack,Bose sound system navigation and red/black leather.
Not been able to test drive one yet but to be honest I have bought cars before without a test drive...

I’ve been watching these on AT for a year or so now and I’ve only seen one GT for sale during that time.

I love the look of the GT, but would probably just buy a regular one in the spec I want (red, manual, Heritage, visibility pack, ideally Bose with black/red seats) and change the wheels to the OZs. Just no time to look at the moment with work/homeschooling so will continue to save and buy one next year hopefully.

Good luck

Yes looks like a similar spec to what I am after. I do like the OZ racing wheels, luckily I have a local supplier for alloy wheels www.Wheelbase.com
he will also sell and fit the correct TPMS sensors to the wheels and tyres you purchase.
As you say it looks like a true GT with the hard top will be hard to find.

Good luck when you restart your search,

My girlfriend has the standard 124 Spider Lusso in white. I did try to twist her arm into the Abarth model, but she seemed to really like the regular 124 and it was her money, so hey ho.

It's still a cracking little car. It's brisk enough when you use the gears, has a lovely stubby gearstick that's satisfying to shift. Driving position is very low, but the seat are comfy enough. I would say there is a size limit to these cars though. Anyone over 6ft and/or very broad might find it a little cramped. It's a hoot with the roof down on a twisty B road too. Although it is a small, light car, it doesn't crash over bumps like a skateboard. It feels quite supple - probably less crashy than my F32 440i, although that's probably due to the runflats!

Kit levels inside are decent - it has the same infotainment system as the MX-5, which is perfectly functional with satnav, bluetooth and such like. Also has heated seats and rear parking cameras.

The noise is lacking compared to the Abarth, but I'm trying to convince her to get an aftermarket job lol.

Despite some car mags complained about its "obviously retro" look, I think it's really well proportioned and is very striking to look at. Judging by the attention it gets from randoms on the street, in car parks and such like, I'd say the car reviewers are off on this one. Far nicer aesthetically than the ND MX-5 that it essentially is.

She's only had it for 5 months and ~3000 miles, but she daily drives it everywhere. No issues to report thus far. In fact, I am about to start researching a good independent in and around SW London/Hampshire/Surrey if anyone can recommend?

The only genuine downside is the lack of refinement at motorway speeds. Above 70mph, you really have to raise your voice to speak to each other and music has to be turned up very loud. It's to be expected in such a light car, but something to remember if you plan on covering long distances in it.

That's all I can think of.

Go for it!

Definitely https://alfacare.co.uk/servicing/alfa-romeo/ - they're in Hartley Wintney in Hampshire. Get a free loan car from them and take a trip into Winchester for a day out - obviously when we're allowed...!
They looked after my Abarth 124 and were brilliant. So much better than main dealers.
They did the 200 bhp chip on mine, too.
They also do tuning chips for the regular 124 (from 138 to 168 bhp) if she's interested in giving it a bit more 'go' - https://alfacare.co.uk/performance-upgrades/abarth...
No connection with them, other than a satisfied customer.

That sounds absolutely ideal.

Cheers the tip!

According to https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&... there's only 18 GT manual and 27 GT auto registered. So finding one for sale might be an issue. Some cars are advertised as GT, but it's just lack of knowledge by the seller. GT has hard top.

From your required spec, drop navigation, you will buy a card on Ebay for £25. You should be able to find auto, Bose, Visibility and red seats, but it may take some time. Visibility pack is a must. Halogen lights are awful. Sometimes I can hardly see the road and have to use full beam.

Cars registered at the end, in March 2019 were mostly sold by Mangoletsi, so reg plates starting MT, MX, etc. There were around 70 cars like that. Mine is one of them and it definitely had undercarriage done. But otherwise, it looks pretty good, no issues with exhaust valve, etc. Probably because I keep it in a garage.

Abarth 124 is great fun.

Many thanks for the update.
I seem to have narrowed my search down now to three cars.
Two are 18 plate and one is a 19 plate. One of the 18 plates however is very low mileage but has not been serviced since 2019 so is missing a service which might be a good haggling point on some discount. Or should I walk away from that one.
The other 18 plate has had two services but as done around 20k miles. The 19 plate as had one service and is due an other service at the end of March.
Hopefully I can do a deal tomorrow or early next week on one of these unless a GT comes up on the trader.

Can I ask do these cars come with a service book or can I check on the cars service history on the cars screen?
Am finding giving a registration number to find out some history on a car to an Abarth dealer is no good unless they have serviced the car.
I seem to be getting mixed messages on the service book.

Mine had a paper service book with stamps in.

My S-design had been serviced by a Fiat dealer and stamped in the service book as such, but did not show on their system. They claimed it had somehow slipped through the net due to it being on a service plan - so in your situation I'd prefer to rely on the service book.

My car has service book. When dealership was taking it for warranty repair, they asked about service history, because they couldn't see last service on their system, which would suggest it's not recorded on countrywide systems.

Someone mentioned that blue 19 plate on sale by Cazoo, doesn't have service book/history.
