156 1.9 JTD 140bhp service costs..

hi,

my friend has only got a couple of thousand miles left till the 2nd service, but today he has just found out that on the 3rd service the cam belt needs to be changed to the cost of £1K from the dealer or £800 from a indie. Is this true?! more to the point why does it need a cam belt change at 36 K?!

He is going to the wrong place. Cambelt change should be in the order of £300. The JTD doesn't need a change at 36000 miles, unlike the T-Sparks.

thanks for the quick reply, I shall pass on the information to my mate who was ready to sell the car he loves.

I think he has been browsing a Alfa forum (not sure which forum(s)) and may have got the wrong end of the stick so to speak.
