Guys,
Have always liked these cars, and now in a position to see if there is a decent one out there with my name on it, have noticed that there are a few for sale, which does suprise me.
What sort of things do i need to look out for, any weakness, what sort of spec should i go for, or wasn't there much choice when new.
If anyone can point me to a site where i can get some technical spec. that would be great.
Thanx, Steve.

Yep, if you look at the sites listed above they should tell you all you need to know.
There was no choice of spec for the SZ, and the only choice for the RZ was which of the three (or very rare fourth) colours you wanted.
If you test drive any, prepare to be slightly disappointed with the brakes - although they do stop you OK, they never feel as sharp as they should. A few different people offer upgrades, though.
Don't be put off by dodgy panel gaps - there were several displayed at Stanford Hall (2001?) and I don't think any two of them had the same fit.
Finally, and I'm sure you know this, don't expect it to go like a rocket - there's any number of hot hatches that will match it in a straight line. The fun to be had is in corners, where the handling and grip will keep you entertained for years.
I've just read this back to myself, and it sort of comes over a bit negative - it's certainly not meant to. Personally, I don't think there's anything to touch it in terms of exclusivity, style, sound and fun. And if you buy well, they're practically depreciation proof.

It's been a real headache for me trying to decide what car to get next, I've been spoilt by currently owning a BMW Z3 Mcoupe in phoenix yellow, only ever 168 of these built in rhd (s54 model) and only one of six in this colour.
So to get a car that is equally rare, fun to drive and puts a huge grin on your face every time you either look at it or indeed drive it is quite difficult, did think about keeping the beemer and getting the Zagato as well, what a choice, if only.
I know it's a long shot, but is there anyone on here that lives in the Glos area that wouldn't mind me having a quick look at their pride and joy, I don't mind travelling, I did enough trying to find the coupe, it would just be nice to have a quick look at one before setting off on my travels.
Thanx for the info so far, very helpful.
Steve.

gemini,
Have you got a web address for portman, or a contact of some description.
xyyman, have you any contact numbers or addresses for your suggestions.
Reason I asked about the one on e-bay is that looking at the post there were a lot of people that were very suspicious of it, and i wanted to make sure it wasn't one of the ones that I have already located, that's not to say that there is anything wrong with it, always nice to have some history on cars like this.
Thanx for info guys, keep it coming, Steve.
