Hello everyone, this is my very first post having just discovered this forum thanks to Google.

Right, i took ownership of an 02 156 1.8 Turismo back in September and have enjoyed driving and the general ownership experience (especially the driving).

However, I have a couple of questions which I would be grateful if any other owners could answer.

Firstly is there anyone in the South Yorkshire region who can recommend a good independent Alfa Specialist? I had a problem with my bonnet release catch recenly and my local franchise (Autoworld) not only charged me £88 to open it for me, but pointed out £500 worth of things which "could do with looking at", none of which are really serious issues.

Secondly, my (beautiful) car is fitted with the on board trip computer in the middle of the dashboard which looks great when you start the engine and the Alfa badge flashes up, but once you're on the move it appears to just be a big lying machine. On a recent trip south the odometer function was showing approx 100 miles less covered than I actually had, this happened in both directions and I am currently getting regualr alerts warning of: Motor Control System Failure-Go To Dealer. This has become more regular during the really cold weather but it also mainly occurs on the same stretch of road on my way to work. As the engine is usually in full song when this happens, i realise it's probably a false alarm but as this is the most technically complex car I've ever owned , having finally graduated from Fiats (Panda, Uno, Punto -had them all) I just wondered if anyone has any similar experiences to relate.

Thanks

If they didn't point them out, you no doubt would come on moaning that you took your car to Alfa, paid £88 and they didn't even give the car a once over
