Following cambelt etc change on Alfa 155 TS (1997 vintage). Was quieter before, has more power now (why should this be...???) but sounds like a V8 almost!! No, not the exhaust almost certainly from within engine bay.
Any one had similar probs/ideas?
And, yes, I will return it to the garage that did the work when I get the time, he has always been reliable and has worked on the car previously but if its something i can sort myself will take this route. Time a big enemy of mine at the mo!!!
Thanks all.

Dave.

You said camshaft belts etc does that include the varatior ? if not youve upset it. and it may need to be replaced. otherwise not sure.

If the variator has gone, it's sound like a diesel.

You say it sounds rough; is the timing OK? Could it be a tooth out?

Sorry for delay...variator has been replaced, so initial deisel type sound gone but does sound deeper than it did. For some reason it goes really well now. Dont think its the timing, will need to try to get him to check/comment.
