Replacement engine 166

A mate of mine is having trouble with the engine in his 166. Zero compression in at least one pot. The cost of replacement he is being quoted is about the same as the value of the car.

Does anyone have recomendations on sourcing a reasonable replacement and how much to pay. I am guessing about 500 to find - in that about right. He is based nr Wycombe so anything local would be great
