Excellent news. Where did you find it? I'm thinking of swapping my saloon for an SW but there don't seem to be many with the V6 up for sale anywhere.
rare as rockinghorse poo!
There's one in Northants for sale on autotrader - same age and colour as mine, he wants a quick sale and would accept 3500 (having spoken to the chap before I bought this one )
Definitely a bargain worth having.
Right, good bits.
It's bloody cheap, much much better built that I'd have given it credit for, it's quiet, the interior is excellent (great dials) and the engine is sublime. Genuinely quite fast and a real pleasure to rev the nuts off. Also, it's wearing the correct wheels.
Bad bits;
All M/Way milage, so there's a fair few stone chips. Previous owner had kids, so leather needs another clean. Will drink a bit of fuel. Will certainly break at some point. Has a random electrical gremlin already, which is reassuring. Is wearing P6000 'ditchfinders', and has far far too much torque for wet roundabouts. Much much much softer than the Four, and correspondingly less talkative through the chassis and steering wheel. I expected nothing less.
All that being said, I really rather like the thing. It's an estate car that feels quite special, and there's not that many of those about.
Good car, IMHO.

Ahem:
Glad you like it! I had the 2.5 before, great car, ludicrous value. Why is everyone so suprised 156's are decently screwed together and nice to drive? Don't believe everything you read in the UK press!

You managed to find a V6 sportwagon?
I know of a 2.5 V6 sportwagon(auto) in Alfa Red for sale, delivery miles at around half the MRP.
That wouldn't happen to be about £8K and oop north somewhere would it?
Only when I was looking I found a dealership on ebay that was selling cars as such and had one that matches your description. It looked mint and I would have been seriously tempted if i hadn't wanted a manual. The guy had 0 feedback on ebay so think it put a lot of people off, if I had been int he market for it I would have travelled up there - they did say that was possible and the layout of the pictures and description did have the feel of a genuine seller.
