2001 shirley?

TBH have you considered a cheaper budget and just going for older style like this one. The thing about these cars is that they are fabulously cheap because of depreciation. The £7k one you are linking to will still be on the fairly steep part of the slide, I think £5k and under is where they start to settle and are the most interesting, a £7k will lose another 2-3 pretty quickly. Not really a problem if you plan to run for while but worth considering maybe.

Try getting back to back test drives in a Veloce and a Lusso (or other standard set up car). You might regret it one way or another if you don't.
The Veloce is definatly the way to go with the heavier engines, the 5 pot JTD and the V6. On the lighter engines oit's not that big a deal, but still noticably.

Myself and hubby are selling a 156 2.5 petrol Y reg 2001. We couldn't rave about it enough, it's fab!! Only selling as paying for laser eye op forces sale, boo! Stunning car, I'm in process of loading pics of our cars onto this site. If you want to have a nosey I can email pics if you prefer. £4500 ono, so under your budget and older than you were looking for, but thought I'd let you know.

It's a stunning car, we will shed a tear when it goes. The old GTI we've got to run about in on a budget just it's the same.
