145 Clovrleaf alarm problem

Thought I had a flat battery in the alarm blipper last night as I hit the button and nothing happened. Swapped the batteries and still nothing. Microswitch clicks, but the light on the blipper still fails to light and nothing happens at the car.
Its the red key fob, (only one I was given when I bought it) and I can get into the car and start it up ok, albeit with 30 seconds of hazards flashing at me. Any ideas?
Bit of a cross post here now - new to Northampton so looking for a decent indi for servicing and fettling while I'm at it..
