Went to see it again today, apart from a small spot on the sill due to improper jacking, and some visible age on components, the underside was pristine. Also saw the bill for the engine rebuild 3 years back, 4300 euros
Either way, shook the mans hand and will be picking it up on saturday, im not quite there yet myself, but the more i think about it, the more i think this is an excellent car, practical enough for me, excellent state with the JTS worries taken care off, beautiful colour. It might not be the GTV ive pined for for years, but i think this car is even better

2 litre?
Yup, a 2.0 JTS, the most common engine in GTs over here, by my estimate 70% over here are JTS, 20% JTD and the 1.8 and 3.2 probably account for about 5% of cars here. Ive previously bemoaned that fact as id prefer a 1.8 over the 2.0, but this specific one has had a complete engine rebuild in 2015, which means the engine only has ~36K on it, rather then the 136K that is on the clock, it also had new piston rings and a mods to stop it from drinking oil, so im pretty confident that this JTS will behave itself.Still, engine character wise im left wondering whether the 1.8 would be more "alfa-like" to drive, the low down torque and lack of noise or other reason to rev kinda disappoint me... sure it is plenty quick, but not as much fun as id hoped

My lady drives an oil drinking (1 litre every 1000 kms) 2 litre 2006 147 and it's a revver only if you want. You really need to pass 4k to enjoy the Alfa mode. Having said that: at speed the car is a GTi in disguise.
What did you do to stop the excess oil drinking?
Yeah, but the JTS doesnt really need revs for torque (peak torque is at 3250), and as torque drops off, revving hard is pointless... very different character to the 1.6TS in my old 147What did you do to stop the excess oil drinking?
As for the oil drinking, im not entirely sure as the mods were done under a previous owners care, but from what i gather it amounts to new piston rings (probably slightly larger, or a 3 piece scrape ring) and some oil return holes drilled in the piston, that is what seems to cure excessive oil consumption on a (J)TS. Ive done a good 1000 miles since i bought it, and not a drop of oil has been consumed, despite a good 500 miles of trashing up and down hills in the ardennes.
