Peak Sud (even in standard form).I had a 1.5SC and a Sprint 1.5 but skipped past the Sud 105 to get into a 33 Green Cloverleaf. More modern fixtures & fittings but they buggered up the brakes, rear axle & steering. The 33 was a nice car but not a fitting replacement for the icon.
Just picked up today, Giulia Veloce, which replaces the Giulietta 1750 TBi Veloce I’ve had since June.
Loved the Giulietta more than any car I’ve had before, but wanted something more relaxing for commuting in.
First impressions after 130 mile drive home from the dealership are very good. It’s so quiet compared with the Giulietta, and it’s easy to pick up too much speed. And the indicators are too quiet! I kept leaving them on.
Very comfortable, and deals with our awful potholed roads better than the Giulietta too.
Would love a Quad but with the mileage I do the running costs would be silly (I’ve had a C63 before).
So far I’m very happy.

You should find it loosens up nicely if so.

I thought I'd share a few pics of my 159. I've always liked Alfas, having owned a 156 2.0TS from new and Mrs S having had a GTV (pre-kids). I've always admired the 159 but knew I wanted a ti spec with the later, 1.75 tbi engine. I found this one in December 2020 in the PH classifieds. You know what they say: "You buy the previous owner, not the car" and the owner was a real enthusiast, this 159 being the third Alfa along with two 916 GTV/Spiders in his possession.
It's been very looked after and had the benefit of a recent gearbox rebuild (the classic M32 bearings issue!). There are a few niggles, such as stonechipped rear arches from the big wheels and a noisy mechanical fuel pump, but nothing too drastic.
Here's a few pics, I was very pleased to see a bloke admiring it at Caffeine & Machine last year...

Was it down in the St Albans / Hatfield area by any chance? Is it 'fully loaded' as they say?If so, I had a look at that one to replace my 3.2 159 and you couldn't wish for a better owner to buy from. It was lovely but ultimately having 4wd made me keep my 159. I did eventually sell it and have regretted it.

It was indeed! Yes, it's got a carbon dash which is very nice. If so, I had a look at that one to replace my 3.2 159 and you couldn't wish for a better owner to buy from. It was lovely but ultimately having 4wd made me keep my 159. I did eventually sell it and have regretted it.

Indeed the move to 33 -based suspension/brakes in the later sprints loses all the pin sharp steering response etc.- night and dayI had a 1.5SC and a Sprint 1.5 but skipped past the Sud 105 to get into a 33 Green Cloverleaf.
