Why don't you want a manual? In my view the Selespeed is completely hopeless, it's an unnecessary additional complication that's prone to faults and actually makes the car slower and less fulfilling to drive.

The Selespeed electrically operated manual (no torque convertor) is only available on the 2.0 petrol. It takes quite a bit of getting used to, especially when manouvering and parking, and it has it's share of reliability problems.

The Q-system with the V6 is an absolute dog. It is a traditional autobox, but it only has four gears. The V6 manual is 6 speeds. The V6 has relatively low torque, but a fair bit of high rev horsepower..... you work the rest out!!

The Sportwagon is lovely though.

Just seen this. CraigW I've got a 147 Selespeed to complement the 3200. I had serious misgivings about the Selespeed system at first, but have to admit I'm a fan.

With 2 kids now, the 147 is a bit small. Awaiting the arrival of the 156GTA Sportwagon with Selespeed before we jump ship - anyone know when that will arrive? or is it already available?

For normal driving the Selespeed system is perfectly acceptable. When pushing the limit, it's a hoot. I was chased up the Julierpass in Switzerland last year by an RS6 and I was a happy as larry!! The RS6 eventually caught me and disappeared. But hey, I had some great fun trying to keep ahead of him....

Main grumble is the late change from 2nd to 1st when at a junction - its caught me out a few times by staying in 2nd as I pull out from a junction when I really needed to be in 1st...if you catch my drift...!
