Removing spark plugs

I'm trying to change the plugs on my 75 V6, but they seem to be a looong way down in the cylinder heads. Also the master cylinder looks like its going to make it nearly impossible to get the furthest one out
Anyone done this before and got any hints or know where to get a long, thin plug socket?

Can you not use a regular plug socket and an extension bar?
