156 V6 Running costs

Sorry if this has been covered - I didi a quick search on the topic.

I'm looking for overall costs including servicing, insurance and tyres.

Not sure if you're looking at buying new or used, what age the car you have in mind is etc etc but here's my tuppence worth...

Had my 156 V6 for a year now. Two new front tyres £55 each (Humpries) shop around, I got Goodyear Eagles (same that were on there before). Service at local indy £180.00, MOT £40.00. That's it.

Petrol, personal thing depending on the way you drive, where you drive, Motorways, B roads, city etc. but I tend to get 200 miles out of half a tank (half way on the fuel gauge), costs about £25.00 to fill up from there, takes about £40.00 for a full tank from empty.

I had an airflow meter replaced earlier last year, but this was done under warranty.

Best bit of advice I can give is get a good independant garage and you will not go far wrong.

Oh, and make sure the car you get has a full SH. Mine was an ex company car, higher than average miles, but full SH, very detailed, and so far the car hasn't missed a beat. Just goes to show that the old saying 'buy on condition' is very true.

That all sounds about right!

Petrol wise can be a bit thirsty if you always heavy with the right foot, but its the price you pay for a lovely V6!

Can not stress how important the SH is on this type of car, also well worth getting a warranty with it as I did.

I had an alfa some while ago (once bitten forever smitten) which was serviced by Roberto Giordanelli, of Auto Italia, who was excellent. Unfortunately that was after a few bad experiences with main dealers.
