Now then, I fully expect this to be an alfaism, but would like confirmation.

After a very spirited drive from Bristol to Swindon yesterday, I popped into sainsbury's for the obligatory barbeque and stella after the return journey.

Back in the car, I started to drive, and witnessed some very strange creaky noises from the front of the car.
Drove home, popped my head under the wheelarches whilst pressing on the bonnet.

The front suspension was creaking like nobody's business, up and down, creak groan creak.
I assume something has dried out somewhere. Off I went thinking nothing more.

This morning, nothing, creaking stopped.
What on earth is that all about?
I have never known a self rectifying creaking car.

Any answers gratefully received.
Mike.

They all do that Sir...

Had exactly the same symptoms and was reassured by the dealer that it was nothing to worry about. They didn't actually explain what made the noise, although they clearly knew themselves...

Thanks Malcolm, Just as I thought, an Alfaism
Wifey has just driven off to work in it, no creaks.

This is why I seem addicted to Alfas.

You can imagine mr VW - "ve must not abide creaks, strip ze sing down and rebuild"
Mr Alfa - So, issa creak, creak fix by spray, no creak, more vino.

Mr VW would call this shoddy build quality. We like to think of it as character. If it stops making the noise, it means that whatever made it has probably dropped off. If the car still drives OK it wasn't important in the first place!
