An armed robber has been jailed for five years after he removed his mask a second too early during a raid.
Lorenzo Mason was caught on CCTV waving a handgun at a female cashier in a bookmakers in Manchester.
He shouted at her: "Give me all the money. I want all the notes. Don't move and don't touch anything!"
The 21-year-old, from Burnage, forced her to put some cash in a bag and then headed out of the Coral shop in Levenshulme.
But he paused at the door and removed the scarf covering his face as he left the premises.
His face was captured on security cameras, and a picture was published in the local media.
Mason's mother recognised his picture and urged him to hand himself in.
He admitted armed robbery and was jailed at Manchester Crown Court.
Det Con Adam Cronshaw, of Longsight CID, said: "The victim in this case has stated that it was the most terrifying experience of her life and she truly thought she was going to be shot.
"In fact, she has been so traumatised by the incident that she has since left her position at this bookmakers due to a genuine fear of the offender returning.
"I hope that both she and the community now feel safer that this armed robber has been caught and will be behind bars for quite some time."
Clearly an exceptional CCTV system. Last Updated 18:48 26/10/2010
