I am Comprehensively insured.

I have overlooked informing the Insurance Company that I am no longer a Wood Machinist and now deliver Motor Parts.

At a Toby Carvery in my Private Vehicle last night my handbrake ceased to function...and my Mondeo scraped a Mini Cooper (13 Plate).

Can my Insurance Company refuse to dosh up the owner of the Mini (approx a Grand) because of my oversight and what if I dont have the cash please ??

Unless you were driving for business they aren’t going to ask what you do let alone ask for proof.

Although they may ask validation questions when making the claim, i.e. what's your job description, miles you do, previous claims/points etc to see if they can get out of a claim if they have the correct details for you.

3rd parties are almost always covered other than in some exceptional circumstances.

I'd suggest you might need to be extremely careful about how you proceed. It sounds as if you might have gone from a job that was at a single location (maybe workhop or factory) to one that is commercial travelling carrying & delivering goods.

What business class is your current insurance as it sounds as if even Class 3 might not correct & you should have Commercial insurance. Hopefully you do.

I was assuming from the mention of a private car that it wasn’t being used for business, but if it was, then yes it’s very different.

Its sn 09 Mondeo that I use purely for getting me and my Partner to work seperately and for no financial gain....other than wages.

I am insured by the Company I work for to deliver their Goods........ there is no crossover.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think job titles matter that much. I think what they're looking out for are total misrepresentations (I.E. saying you're a teacher when you're a carpenter to get a lower premium).

I find it difficult to match the job options to what I actually do, I once asked about it on the phone and they said "just pick whichever one sounds closest" so I doubt they'll worry about it, especially as that used to be your job.

EDIT: if there is one lesson you could learn from all this it's always park in gear biggrin

OK, if the vehicle you had an accident in is different to the one you drive for work then I'd say you should be fine.

I am going to approach the Ombudsman tomorrow ...subject to them confirming what was said today.

Id like to know wether Prima covers delivery drivers or not ...if they are fibbing I stand a chance I guess....has anybody on here ever had a Policy with Prima for Delivery Drivers please.HEARTBROKEN..Truly

Are they suggesting that you're NOT insured ?

Then ombudsman won’t pick it up unless you have been through the entire complaints process of the company.

Insurers will always ask what your occupation is when you take out a policy.
Some insurers won’t insure certain occupations.
OP, did you make it very clear to Prima that whilst you now deliver parts that is only in a company vehicle and therefore in your mondeo cover is not for that ?
Have they also said that they are cancelling your policy ?

We need to clear one thing up here.

Do you go to work and get in a works van and deliver car parts?

Or do you go to work and deliver car parts in YOUR car?

Sadly the most common advice in circumstances like this is to give the occupation you insured as, because otherwise voiding of policy is possible. I’m not saying one should do that, or that it is right, of course.

IIRC didn’t the long-running PPF claim thread have this as an issue, too?

We're a bit confused. Do you drive a different vehicle in your delivery job or do you deliver in your Mondeo?

I drive to work in my Mondeo and pick up a Van to deliver to luton = Milton Keynes.

I dont deliver anything in the Mondeo at all......Its to get me and my Partner around.....does that make a difference....I hope so.

Yes they want to end my policy as APPARENTLY they dont cover delivery drivers.

When i'm in the van I am covered by the works Insurance...what I have done wrong is overlooked my change in employment...and owned up to the fact this morning. My mechanic is cross with me for telling the truth ???
