Audi RS4 V8

Looks quite complicated in there, but 10 mins is all it takes to work out what does what! Wished I'd taken a pic when the heads were still on... even more 'chain-tastic'! Two of those gears drive the Air-Con and Power-Steering pump respectively. I've already junked the actual pumps, but hope to remove the redundant gears as well (every little helps!). The gear driven water-pump is on the other side of the engine... it too has gone bye-bye's and the water will be pushed by an electronic jobbie! The only ancillary-drives that remain are the oil-pump and the alternator.

One of the heads (the four small holes are the FSI ports... each will be blanked off at both ends). You can't see the Secondary Air Injection Ports as they're hiding in the exhaust ports (funnily enough!). These will also be blanked off.

This thread make me wish I was clever with engines and not just words.

Sigh.

my god, you would think those curved guides would wear out... I take it they change the guides at the same time as the chains, or due to german engineering are chains for life and not a serviceable item like a belt??

Are you not running aircon?

You will regret it latter!

Speak to Crazy about his regrets of building the canam without aircon and then the joy of fitting a couple of years latter!

You have been warned, put it in now. I wanted to save weight and work etc. Big mistake, although you would think with absence of roof heat rises. In the Ultima its like sitting in an open pit fire in summer. It can be retro fitted if you want to spend the rest of your life with a back specialist.

Already seeing a back specialist... knackered discs and screwed cauda equina.

I appreciate where you're coming from but air-con is for girls... biggrin

It will be a very hot fart and in your face.

How many owners would it take to convince you?

You have not been advised to do it you have been TOLD to do it by many and are still not listening.
