I got as far as hearing the panel being introduced then had to turn off. They've got that bloody Shami Chakrabarti on there yet again. I've yet to figure out why on earth she seems to be a regular panelist when as far as I can tell she is a complete waste of oxygen. I can't fking stand her.
That is all.

She's just bleating on about prison not working and talking about it as if only the most dangerous be jailed and grudgingly at that, it only works for public protection for a short time. WTF does she think it's for if not public protection. Hideous little, self publicising lefty troll. That is all.

Rehabilitation perhaps?Better long term public protection through reforming offenders than short term protection from offenders who come out hardened and better prepared to commit crime.
Funny enough, she was agreeing with Ken Clarke while Jack Straw found himself on the same side as Melanie Philips.

Whilst not her biggest fan, I don't think she's necessarily a raging lefty. Annoying and self-righteous perhaps, but she'll criticise and side with parties on the left or right. In fact, many of Liberty's views are quite libertarian...not unlike most of PH!ninja-lewis said:

The area I work has about a dozen prolific offenders. When they're in prison crime plummets and ordinary people don't become victims.
When they're having their touchy, feely community sentences, they continue to commit burglary and robbery. Prison works...and longer sentences work even better.

Agreed. We should let 'em all out and move them next door to the pc brigaders who seem so keen to get them let out. Would they still be so keen? The area I work has about a dozen prolific offenders. When they're in prison crime plummets and ordinary people don't become victims.
