Well I have finally taken the plunge, and am so excited, have wanted a TVR for as long as I can remember and today put down a deposit on a late 2003 t350 in specraflair silver.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2820917.htm

The car itself need some work to get back up to standard butas I bought it relatively cheaply it will allow me to have it done to my own spec.

Now look out for a barage of posts from me to get help to sort the car.

I didn't think there was such a thing as 'sold as seen, no warranty' on a retail sale? 3 month 'warranty' applies surely?

correct-a dealer cannot take away your staturory rights.a small claims court would take a dim view and would always side with the buyer.

Unless you've received a reciept stating that it was sold as scrap, I believe you have a 6month legal obligation of a Warranty from a trade sale.

Looks good, very cheap too.

I will be honest I was looking for a pristine car but they all seem to be £20k plus. So when this one came up I though as long as it's a straight car I can buy it and have £4k left over to bring it up to a great standard.car is coming fully serviced and MOT'd Budgeting £2000 for full retrim, £1000 for front end respray and £600 for new suspension once this is done it should be as good as new

Which brings the budget back up to nearly 20k, but you will at least have it the way you want it?
Are the mechanical issues referred to in the advert significant?

The mechanical issues are with the suspension, both front shocks gone. As part of the deal it is getting a full service including tappets and I will supply my choice of suspension and they will fit it and set it up. Also the ball joints ( I think) are being replaced.

I did the same with my t350 I got it for a song and then spent a few quid getting it back into good condition. Its worth it as you can do what you want to it. If you are tracking it at some point I would change the seats to something that will take harnesses. Most go for tuscan seats. If you are changing the carpets I would upgrade the sound deadening in it at the same time.Personally I would leave the interior till the winter and spend 4k on petrol.

Re- Warranty. Yes you are correct and if you buy a car from a dealer he is obliged to give you a warranty, but as a dealer I would say that this would be a silly thing to do as then all the cheaper cars will become retail cars or will be traded through the auction house or web-based trade sites and the chance to save money will not exist for people who are on a budget. If both parties are happy to buy/sell at 'trade' or 'as is' I think a certain amount of common sense and politeness need to be used by both parties.
