I love this show.
Used to think that Jamie Oliver was a right wally, but this and the previous show (including the one aboot pigs) have made me rethink (ok he might still be a bit wallyish.
The scene with the kids and the peole with serious health issues was heartjerking.
It's nice to see something on the box that is positive and uplifting, as opposed to the other stuff I watch (docs aboot carers beating patients and benefits scams etc).

I think Jamie does good work, and that Ramon Cortinez is a biggrin

Agree totally with you. This is a great series and the LASUD really make my p155 boil!

Making sure our kids eat properly at school has always been something that Jamie has been passionate about and good on him, no-one else seems to care.

Some of the parts of this series have really been an emotional eyeopener, so many kids getting type2 diabetes, and as you said the Social Studies piece in the classroom was quite shocking and sad.

Daft that they apparently pulled it in the US after 2 episodes due to low ratings.

I wonder how well a show would do in the UK that featured an American chef doing the same thing in our schools though..

I remember when he used to be on the Sainsbury's ads and I couldn't stand him, but he actually appears to be a good bloke. Not quite as entertaining to watch as Ramsey but then again he's more genuine and his programs are less staged.

Can you name an American celebrity chef? Not being sarcastic I just can't think of one!

Why are there so few world renown American chefs?

Are they behind us in our new found interest in food and cooking programmes? Food is sexy now in the UK. Pubs now aim to be gastro-pubs and generally, choice for eating out has improved.

No - not heard of any of those! Anthony Bourdin sounds familiar. Shall I mention Colonel Sanders just to get that out of the way!

There are American cookery programmes but we are flooded with 'celeb' chefs here, there is no room for anymore!! I can think of the galloping gourmet and Louis Jourdan, but he was nabbed by Columbo.
