Pete, I would reckon the best bet is to wire brush off the rust & flaky powder coat and use some Hammerite/Smoothrite. I expect you can get it in white. Never done it on my Griff but did some work on my S3c and it was fine. Rich... p.s. If you are really pedantic you can mix hammerite colours to get the right shade of grey

I spent a few weekends in the winter doing mine: Wire brush & paint scraper to get all the cack off, screwdriver etc to get all the bits of gravel out from between the tubing & body, then hammerite followed by Waxoyl. I am told by a keen Morris Minor owner(!), that Waxoyl will stop any rust in its tracks. He gave his good going over and 5 years later there was no more rust, so the situation was totally stabilised, which is good, because it is a pretty crappy job, and I wouldn't want to do it every year...
