I searched nearly 6 pages worth of threads and couldnt find the discussion on movies that should be remade today. I could have sworn there was one going on.

Anyway, I got to catching an oldie from the 90's tonight, still watching it right now as a matter of fact and it got me thinking it would be an excellent movie to remake. It is from the year 1990 to be exact.

Remember this one, FLATLINERS. A group of medical students stop each others hearts in a controlled experiment hoping to catch a glimpse of the afterlife, but they get more than they bargained far when the world of the living and the world of the afterlife begin to coincide.

I think it still would be a fresh premise and so long as Hollywood didnt make it into a cgi crap fest, I believe it would have alot of potential. Always spooked me when I was a kid, and i've never forgot about it when mentioning sci fi/horror/thriller movies from the late 80's early 90's.

It was a good film. But I fear in this age of a 'bubble-wrapped' lifestyle that showing a film encouraging someone to deliberately pause their life, you just know some dipst IS going to try it dont you?

If that happens then it will be blamed for all the problems in the world, etc. etc.

The film I liked in the same afterlife theme was Brainstorm, where they create a method of recording human thoughts.

You know you are old when people are asking for remakes of films you still look on as new and modern.

They'll be asking for a remake of "Some Like it Hot" nest.

Remaking a less known film like Flatliners or something like Shocker or Re-Animator would be quite a good idea. It would give the original more of an ordinance. The thing I don't like is that all the current remakes tend to be better known and have a lot of fans Halloween, Nightmere On Elm Street etc, but with Highlander, Total Recall and The Crow lined up for Remakes it does look like anything will change.

Don't laugh, but how about remaking 'The Blue Lamp'?

When I saw it I was expecting to be as twee as Dixon of Dock Green but it's actually a mixture of realistic looking police procedure and surprisingly gritty and contemporary atmosphere. Plenty of talk of the increase in juvenile delinquency being a sign of the times (it was blamed on WW2 then) and about how modern crooks were undisciplined wild men compared with the old school villains.

The only trouble is that it was so influential first time round that it would seem unoriginal.

'The Fourth Protocol' should be re-done.

Why do any of the films mentioned so far need a re-make? I liked Flatliners, and yes it was quite creepy. If I want to see it again, I'll rent it. What could a re-make add?

A new version of an old film can surely only work if you are not aware of the original - If you know the first one and like it, you can't help making comparisons - if you didn't like the original, why would you go and see a remake?

Really don't understand why anyone would call for a remake of any old film.
