so it costs £145.00 odd quid right. fine.

I want to pay by direct debit every month. I should get 12 months of viewing for my £145.00 right?

So why is it that they want to charge me £145.00 over 6 months, then start again in January ?

Perhaps you have to pay for a full licence no matter what time of year it is?

They do explain all this in their paperwork and website. You pay for it over 6 months and then start paying for the next annual licence.

Have they backdated it to when they think you needed one from?

I have Sky and watch BBC1+2 far more than any other channel. I'm sure if they made it optional (ie you can still get Sky/Virgin channels and ITV, CH.4 and 5 without access to BBC services) the vast majority would still pay the licence fee once they realise how much they actually use BBC tv and radio.

I watch BBC 1&2 sometimes. It's like a preview channel for Dave.

I shall put in my word (again) for BBC 4 - the thinking man's BBC 2.

And of course, Radio 4, the only broadcast media outlet (possibly in the world) that assumes people have a brain.

This is the answer. Cancel the d/d after 6 months then you don't have to pay for another 6.

I see. so they want to charge me the cost of one years licence over 6 months - thats ok. I just wondered why they then wanted to charge me for another licence after I had paid for the first and only got 6 months use out of it!

I never got the logic behind it either. I cancelled my d/d after 6 months and will set another up when it runs out.
