I know these are a few years old now but I've been watching his 'Bike is Born' series this week and have to say what a proper Pistonhead this guy is!
Rebuilding a classic Harley he turned his hand to pretty much everything and showed great knowledge and expertise whilst doing so.

A bit like Ed China, but more polished, he really is a great watch, a proper Top Bloke!

Just looking on his website I even find out he's a bloody* vet as well!

^^^^ & a qualified vet to boot I understand. Still prefer Ed China though.

watched everything he's done with his cars/bikes/planes/choppers and also the series where he helps others restore classics. VERY talented guy, soooo much more entertaining than Ed China (although he is good in his own right) its even more outstanding that he's a qualified vet and is "only" an amature engineer. i'd love a tenth of his skills and enthusiasm.

Wasn't he the (or one of) head vets at the RSPCA?

Top bloke IMO!

...ahh, of course!

It was Mark who presented C4's "Inside Nature's Giants" a few years ago.

I must admit he's a very personable chap on screen, and obviously very enthusiastic about his projects.

His restoration of a S1 E-Type Roadster (A Car is Re-Born) is excellent.

I thought it was the same bloke. I have just been watching the S1 E-Type restoration (finally started the engine) and last night saw the Sperm Whale dissection. I kept thining to myself they look bloody similar, but car restorer and vet, no way.

Good on him. He's a bit more sedate when he is taking animals apart.

Mark Evans also did a series where he visited people who were restoring classic cars and helped them with advice and equipment. The show that springs to mind is a young girl was restoring a MG midget and Mark went along with welding tools and other bits to help her out.

He seems a really good guy and was also the RSPCA vet on the Panorama show about the kennel club and crufts which led to most firms pulling sponsorship of Crufts.

There is a box set (shame it doesn't have the Land/Range rover conversion tho), I got it for Xmas last year. Watching it when Mrs P is out is one of my guilty pleasures paperbag

You can see the back of my head in the episode of "A Racing Car is Born" where he races his Westfield in France.

Am I the only one who cringes at this show?

The mechanical parts ore OK its his fkery I can't stand.

Oh look new seals, must use them as glasses!

Ooh shiny new exhaust or alpine horn?

It's five minutes entertainment and twenty five fking around.

Would any of you stop watching if he was more sensible?

TBH I find that quite endearing.

He's re-building engines and I'd imagine that can get quite boring to watch if it was presented like an Open University Chemistry lecture.
Sure you might think 'knobhead' but it's only in friendly way.

Loved the Racing Car Is Born where he built a Westfield, drove a Westfield, and raced a Westfield. It's the reason i bought a Caterham

I always thought the fat bloke with curly hair showed him how to do stuff then he did it for the camera.
