We're planning on heading down to Champagne in the camper at the end of this month. I remember going there when I was young and liked the area.

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding what to do and where to visit?

Nothing to do with champagne itself, but make sure you swing by the old Grand Prix circuit at Gueux smile

Maybe I missed the good bits of Champagne last year but I found it terminally dull.

After spending 5 days in Beaune a couple of months ago we drove into the Champagne region intending to stay for 4 nights. Left after 1 night. It was like going to Chelmsford.

To be fair the weather had been beautiful until we moved North when it started hammering down, so that may have 'clouded' our judgement.

Visit: the various Champagne houses.
Do: Drink Champagne wink

Seriously, it all depends on what you like to do on holiday.

I enjoyed Reims Catherdral. But that is my bag. I even managed to drink champagne which wasn't bad.

^This. Plus the automotive museum there is also worth a look.

We stopped off near Reims on the way back from Germany a couple of weeks ago. There's a museum in Verzenay which is OK for an hour or so. It's right in the middle of the vineyards and tells you a lot about the region and how they make the champagne. Interesting, but wouldn't spend huge amounts of time.

In Reims, besides the Catherdral, there is also the room where they accepted the German surrender. It's been kept as it was - amazing piece of history. Oh - and Reims is dead on a Sunday.

Best plan though is to go back to your hotel and get smashed on Champagne. Highlight for me !

I've been wondering if it's possible to cycle around the various champagne houses as a short break.

Do most of them do tasting sessions, and if so do they charge much?

How far apart do they tend to be? If I was to cycle about 50 miles a day would I get around them in a four day holiday?

Try and visit a lovely little town called Rocroi. A little out of region, but should not be missed.
