Red Victor 3 Finally Nails Santa Pod

The PH smiley tears up the strip (with a certain Pro-Modified drag machine propelling it, of course...)

PH-supported drag car, Red Victor 3 has finally completed its first weekend of action.

PHer Andy Frost and the RV3 team managed a 7.2secs, 199.8mph quarter-mile in the Euro finals at Santa Pod last weekend.

The debut set of competitive runs might have fallen short of what Andy plans for RV3 (he aims to get the 3000bhp Vauxhall running 6.5-second quarters), but following a spot of nasty engine trouble on the car's first time out a few months back (Involving a popped camshaft), tho get the car running so quickly so soon is a damn fine achievement.

Well done to all at Red Victor Racing - we can't wait to see the results of your next outing!

Looks like it's running nicely, but 5's are a looooong way off. Let alone 5.0's! Surely an editorial error?

Good work team, it's running well at least. Keep chipping away.

Wow, I was expecting it to be fast in the video but not quite that fast!

Impressive machine - hope to get a chance to see it 'in the flesh' sometime...

I saw that run - very impressive!

...and well done guys for getting the car sorted and running well. If it can run 5 secs that will be some acheivment too....and some of those top fuel boys might be knocking on your door for some advice! Seriously though, when you get into the 6.5's it will deeply impressive...and all from a car that's road legal!

Am I correct in thinking this car is technically road-legal??
If so, get it down to the Brighton speed trials and set a new record!

Trouble is that RV3 might be a bit too fast for Brighton Speed Trials.

Umm kind of. It runs on slicks on the racetrack similar to the PSCA/other series in the states.

Is it my imagination, or is he sleeping on the line in that vid?

Certainly not sleeping. There's no one in the other lane and this was a licensing run tagged on to the end of a qualifying session, so Andy I'm sure, was more concerned about his staging procedure and building the correct and consistent launch revs/boost than he was about trying to cut a light which in these circumstances was irrelevant. Shame he didn't make the field but there's a long way to go yet to find the predicted 6.5's. As for those still going on and on about RV3 running 5's, they clearly have no concept of what it takes to run a 5 and how "different" Andy is doing things in order to maintain some street legality.

You couldn't get it to hook up on a normal road like Brightons' Madeira drive. He would be lucky to run a nine

Understood, thanks. So was the time irrelevant then?

The time was totally relevant, the ET clock only begins when you leave the line..

Apologies for the shouting at the end of the video, as I'm sure you can imagine, I was rather pleased with the run...

We had arrived at the point where we were running short of passes in which we would be able to get our licence so opted for a safe strategy, launching in 2nd gear (for which we had previous data) to ensure that we could get off the line without too much potential for wheelspin/shake..

Andy sat on the line to ensure that he built sufficient boost for the pass to work, as you can see it did exactly what we wanted it to do for that pass..

We are very happy with the results of the weekend, the team aimed for Andy to licence and we did that, we even qualified 18th in a 22 car field.. What's more important is that we put the car back in the truck in one piece!
