Sadly, I am certain that the New Year will herald a nadir in the levels of employment. The biggest lie of all is that QE might somehow help small private enterprises.

I think the figures are a disaster. We should ignore the claimant count number, with employment down by 200,000 and unemployment up by over 100,000.
That (the data) shouldn't come as a surprise because the economy is growing at half the pace it needs to keep unemployment stable. That's not going to change anytime soon, so we should get used to numbers like this.
I reckon early next year and through q1 will hit worst because:That (the data) shouldn't come as a surprise because the economy is growing at half the pace it needs to keep unemployment stable. That's not going to change anytime soon, so we should get used to numbers like this.
- Business that is pro-cyclical with retail/Xmas will have a thinner time of it than they hope.
- Business that is counter-cyclical with retail/Xmas will be quiet anyway and cash-flows will crunch.
- Rent/tax quarters towards the end of q1 will also bring a few down.

What's the positions, specialist?
1 IT specialist, 2 cold calling drones (would be temps), 2 Account Managers which is starting off cold calling & managing their own accounts as they are created. We've been through about 9 people so far this year and filled only 2 of the 7 roles we created in March.
Speaking as the owner of one of the biggest taxi companies in Mid Devon,if it wasn't for local school contracts, we would be right in the crap. There is no rank work at all. Nobody is travelling anywhere for work or pleasure. Weekends are not nearly as busy as they should be. I am of the opinion that the usual 'busy' run up to Christmas will be very subdued as people hold their money for Christmas rather than splash on parties and nights out.
It is a problem that there are not enough 'work ready' people in this country... whether that be white or blue collar. However, all countries have mass populations of low-level workers (or drones as they've been called here). The trick is to have a base of jobs that anyone can do. We don't have that, and i think we need it.
Also, the thing i'm waiting for is some discussion about what can actually be done to stem this tide (by those in power). It's all well and good politicians shifting blame, but there will come a point when you actually have to do something, history will remember action, not cheap talk and the blame-game.

Cold calling - not a job is it!
