Nokia Windows Phone
Discussion
Had my current Nokia phone for 4 years now and I have always liked Nokia hardware.
In the meantime I have had an Android phone but got rid of it because Android is crap IMO.
I was looking forward to Windows Phone but was put off by a few things, the new Mango update appears to have resolved most of them.
With Nokias new Windows Phone expected out imminently - it could be that we will have a very decent hardware and software package on offer.
I have played with HTC, Apple and Samsung manufactured phones but I am looking forward to seeing what Nokia come up with, A couple of designs have been leaked but nothing confirmed yet - but expected next week.

Which Android?
There are lots of different UIs sitting atop Android, some are great, some are gash.
The new Windows Mango does look slick but it doesn't (yet?) have a great app ecosystem...
I'm not so sure. In terms of numbers obviously not but if you work out what you actually use, chances are the app is about or coming soon. There are lots of different UIs sitting atop Android, some are great, some are gash.

I'm ditching the iPhone after being with it since the 3. Windows Phone just works so much nicer. I am waiting for next week to see what Nokia do, otherwise it's the Focus S for me.
Edit to say, not having to use iTunes will be the cherry on the top for me

I had HTC Sense but preffered the base Android UI.
No real horrors then...Mojooo said:
I quickly learnt that Apps are not all about numbers and Android badly needs this so call harsh system Apple have before they allow Apps onto the market. Quality no quantity after all.
There is a lot of rubbish on the Market but I've not had any real problems finding good solid apps which do what I want but then I am a geeky Linux using nerd and all my phones are rooted. Quality not quantity is a great strapline, but doesn't get the T3/Gadget show headlines.
Android could do with some quality control, but that doesn't seem to have stopped the terrible apps making it onto the AppStore - it just stops badly written/malicious apps being there.
Like someone said above, apply your own filters, and its all good.

The Nokia Lumia 800 looks nice in black.
People will whinge that it doesnt have groundbrekaing specs but who cares. Wish it was a bit cheaper though.

Manufacturers really need to stop trying to copy Apple launches. Apple launches are a bit crap but ones that are 10 tiems crapper are very crap.

Heathen! Also, gimme one of them Lumia 800 things. A blue one.
I'm tending more towards getting the 800, I could sell my iPhone and almost buy one sim free.

kinda interesting may be worth waiting a month or three as the n9 which is the exact same chassis comes in 64gb version as well so may be plans in that regard for the 800.
The N9 has a (much) slower CPU/SoC but more RAM and a larger screen.I'd like a 64GB one, but 16 is fine for me.

I can get one on 3 (my current network) for no up-front cost and £30/month.

Are you in the UK? I'm with O2 at the moment and they don't even have any info on their website about the Nokia phones, but the coverage is st hot. Are 3 better than, say, Orange, generally?500mins/5K texts/1GB.

Whilst coverage stats are useful up to a point, I think it's worth visiting the various network web sites and checking that they deliver 3G data in the places you'll actually use the phone.
Plans and prices on Nokia's website
