Police stop Mini Driver

You've probably seen this floating about today.
Love how the 24 year old is now a "victim" despite it being a stolen car, (he claims he bought it for £6K. Course you did) he did 4 months in jail for driving whilst disqualified and handling stolen goods. Yet feels they are terrible nasty people and he's clearly seeking a payout for PTS.
If past events are to give a gauge. The Police only tend to go a bit OTT when the driver fails to stop for them. And very curious that someone happened to be filming this event.

I'm very uneasy about the police attacking a car with baseball bats, I can't see- no matter the scumbag involved - that this is good for the police in the long run. They could have nailed him in some other way later and done it properly.
Like it or not, impressions are important. These guys should be disciplined for bringing the police in general into disrepute, in my opinion.

Eh? Not curious at all. The Police filmed it themselves for evidence and it clearly said so in the article. The level of force was totally disproportional and the officers were rightly disciplined.

And they have been, massively.Like it or not, impressions are important. These guys should be disciplined for bringing the police in general into disrepute, in my opinion.
The problems with that team ran far deeper than what is visible in that video. To be honest, apart from some dodgy clothing choices and the use of bats and poles rather than proper equipment, provided that incident was justified and correctly written up there really wouldn't have been a problem with it. But there was....
From the start the cops come across like complete tools.. "attack attack" - too many xbox games me thinks.
Any cop that leaves the station with a baseball bat should be sacked......i mean, just stop and think - they are off to nick a car thief and someone seriously thinks picking up a BASEBALL bat is sensible???? Did no one say "err, Bob....why have you got a bat with you?"
Car thief should go to jail
Moron cops should go to job centre

It sounds like you know plenty about this incident. I post from the point of view of a member of the public who knows plenty of police guys (family/friends). I raised this last night and it was described as unhelpful to say the least. The problems with that team ran far deeper than what is visible in that video. The use of baseball bats etc isn't acceptable, even when equipment would have done the same job.

It was mentioned a while ago on one of those police TV programmes that the window attack is designed to shock the occupant in case he has a weapon. It was suggested this is standard procedure.
Is it..?
It's not a standard procedure, but it is a viable tactic when justified and proportionate. Is it..?

Why do so many of these 'shocking' police stories involve the Met?
Good question - one that need pursuing.A mate on another force was part of the huge operation, post London riots, that drafted in provincial teams to the Met's turf to help swell ranks. He was in charge of a couple of carriers full of guys who were driven by local drivers. He and his guys made a point of getting out of their carriers and properly 'pounding the beat' as they would at home, but in some [i[very[/i] tough areas in the east end. The Met officer's were gobsmacked at the positive results they were getting - engaging with locals - and conversely my mate was horrified by their lack of communication and social skills.
