The carry on baggage rules stipulate:

All liquid containers must be placed in a transparent, re-sealable bag (ie. with a zip or pressable seal). The bag must be no bigger than 20cm x 20cm (8ins x 8ins), and a maximum of one litre in capacity.

So where do I get one of these bags?

Sandwich/freezer bags - available from any supermarket and many other places.

Gatwick have them for free, Statsted tried to charge £1 for them last time I was there.

Any airport who have any sense of passenger service provide them free of charge. Therefore Manchester will also ask you for £1.

Zurich are rumoured to be scrapping it next year at some point, then the rest of Europe will slowly follow hopefully.

Over the pond in the land of the free, I heard of an armed US Air Marshal being relieved of his shampoo as he had slightly too much recently.

Seriously, did you really need to ask for help in sourcing a ziplok bag?
Are you sure you will be OK - out of the house, on your own?

In case it's of any use to anyone, you get 4/ 5 (can't remember which) bags for that quid, which saves faffing around trying to find a legit one beforehand... They don't tell you that up front though, and you don't realise until everyone in the group has bought a load of bags they didn't actually need! frown

At Southampton they are free. They did try charging 20p a bag a while ago but that didnt go down very well so they have been free ever since.

Some jobsworth at Cardiff Airport didn't like the slight oversize of our sandwich bag so forced us to buy one of their £1 bags from their dispenser. There was no need and I hope she falls over and breaks her ankle.

Well I didn't know you could get them free at the airport, so now I don't have to faff about going into town to get one, so it was worth a quick ask, no?

Yeah, now you can join the line of annoying faffers putting things into bags just before they go through airport security.
