Hi Guys

MOT failure earlier - turned out to be no brake lights & I have traced it to the microswitch at the foot pedal ..........

Would anyone know what the switch came off of originally as there are no markings on it

It is the white one with the two contacts stuck out @ 45^

Need to track one down ASAP & get my baby back to the MOT station !!!

Cheers

I feel your pain but no idea what it's off originally and given the "luck" I've had with getting even the most generic of parts from Halfwits today I wouldn't rate your chances of getting anything tomorrow... frown

Intermotor part# 031E (51460) Peugeot 205 '83-'87 is suggested, but I have no idea if it works.

Had the same switch fail on mine, took it into local motor factors got one of the shelf was a bit short on length so added a tyre valve cap to it, worked a treat got the correct one the following week, only takes minutes to fit
A local motor factors should get you back on the road.

Go to your local auto shop with your old switch... and get a metal one with two nuts on.. so you can screw it up and down and adjust its height... I got a nice brass one for about £3... Fiat or Lancia I think...
The original plastic unit is horrid... get rid and get a metal one installed... wink

The 51460 one will fit but the shank is quite a bit smaller dia than the receiving hole in the mounting bracket... a 51590 is much snugger and the contact tangs are at a better angle too; you might need to ease the bracket toward the pedal a tad depending on the pedal height (jaust a couple of mm)

Hi Beaver

Ah the good old days when there was a little motor shop on th High ST !!

Halfrauds have managed to close every one of th elittle motor factors around here & then rub salt in it by reducing their parts department to a desk & a PC !!!!

Thanks for the info - I'll end up garaging the old girl until I can get one by post bythe looks of it frown

Hey - I went into the Salisbury Halfwits for a 3" exhaust clamp ... the first numpty I got said they didn't do them. The second lad had a brain and showed me where they were but they only went up to 2" - there were a couple of empty hooks for two bigger sizes which had sold out but apparently he couldn't find out what size they were or when they'd be back in.

I can understand that things are hard for the motor supplies places nowadays (as it is for everyone) but Halfords has gone the same way as Maplin and a very useful shop has become a toyship full of soapy old donkyjizz ... maybe it was the only way to survive but as a crippled and impotent version of what they used to be?

Sad...
