it's not front page news though, is it? You've had to delve a bit deeper to get that nugget.

Actually the whole article doesn't even make sense. Why are they even bringing batteries into it when it ran out of diesel?!

Well, it's not on there now. It is on the 'home page' of BBC news, ENGLAND when you delve a bit deeper, but not on the home page. wink

So when the battery runs down, they're supposed to pull over and charge it at idle? That's really very silly, but not as silly as a driver thinking he needs to do that to recharge the battery when in fact he has no diesel..

Depends what the driver has been told. If he was told, (it does around 300 miles before you need to refill it" when that milage is stop start city traffic, then he buggers off down the motorway, then maybe he could be caught short.

Anyway, I agree, it is non-news, but I do like the new bus. bette than bendy ones, and nice to see the London buses back.

Because there are very few journalists any more? I doubt anyone even left the office for that 'story'.

None of your bloody business, given where you live according to your profile.

"Transport for London (TfL) said the bus recharged its battery using energy from its brakes, but on long journeys had to run on diesel."

It breaks thermodynamic laws only on short journeys...

Not at all, I just think you've taken it out of context. It would use the electric part far more in the city, probably requiring the diesel side much less. On a motorway it will use virtually none of the electric capability due to lack of braking. basically, they were using just the diesel bit, and none of the electric bit. I don't think he meant it was a perpetual momentum machine, etc.
