What temp does heating oil frezze at?
Discussion
This is the first time I have had oil heating and was just wondering.
The tank itself is not the worry, it's the exposed 10mm copper I'm concerned about and I'm old enough to remember when diesel in lorries used to become to thick to flow.
I'm sure winter temps are getting colder each year!
oops, seems I can't spell freeze!

Your biggest worry is if any water has got into your tank, that will freeze easily and block the oil.
The apes that installed our tank (before we bought the house) didn't install it with the correct incline. (highest side being the one where the oil feeds out) As a result when the tanker turns up to fill it and they inevitably leave the cap half off. A little water gets in from rain, sinks to the side where the oil feeds out and the freezes thus blocking the pipe!

My bigger problem is chewing through 2,000 litres since the beginning of November!
Think I might get the boiler looked at in summer. And buy the Mrs another jumper.
So that works out at over 200 kW hrs a day, or 3 x 3kW fan heaters on full blast 24/7. Think I might get the boiler looked at in summer. And buy the Mrs another jumper.
Either your house is like the tropics or the size of Buckingham Palace.
