Just a way for all those young drivers who say that it is unfair that they are judged on the behaviour of their peers to be judged on their own behaviour.

Black box schemes have been around for a while.
They are getting more and more popular. Although being far from compulsary, with rising premiums I think they will get installed by alot more 'sensible drivers'.

Eventually if you havnt got one, you will be a driving thug, and therefore your premiums will be stupid.

So yes in my opinion thin end of the wedge. I think Im gonna be telling my grandkids how we used to have fun driving, and they will look at me with an air of disbelief.

None of this ste will have any affect until the judiciary implement realistic fines for driving without insurance

No insurance son? Couldn't afford the £2k premium? Aah, never mind, here's a nice fine of £300 and 3 points. Please try to remember to insure your car next time....

So about £500 total, still cheaper for many people to drive with no insurance with the current legislation.

It's 6 points for driving with no insurance which with a new license (less than 2 years) would mean a ban and a retest.

Gah, don't like this.

I like the idea of cheaper insurance for safe drivers, but I really really don't like where this is headed.

He added that the system could also detect sudden hard braking so assistance could be sent.

Extreme speeds would be greeted with "a stern email" to the driver.

What sort of assistance would be sent? If it sends the emergency services and there's no crash then surely the company will get done for wasting police time?

I wonder what would happen if you went on a trackday with one of these devices fitted?

Considering you can get gps blockers for under £20 online I can see people simply blocking the signal then going on a hoon.

yes Sounds good as long as it's never compulsory.

Don't you think the company would query why all of a sudden your car has disappeared off their system?, blocking the signal would raise an immediate "moral risk" and the insurer may decide to cancel your insurance.
