I am thinking about buying a wood burning stove, I want to keep it simple and buy everything at the same place hopefully this will make it cheaper! Any one got any suggestions?

However that thread is for someone who doesn't appear to have a chimney, so it might not be relevant if the OP has am existing chimney.

I went to get everything at the same place, and they also recommended an installer for me, which worked out really well.

I was lucky enough to not have to have my chimney lined as it already had a sufficient lining (concrete). It may be worth getting your installer to have a look at the chimney before you buy anything.

Do you have an existing chimney?
Do you know what kind of output you want from the stove (KW)?

I would highly recommend getting a wood burner, they are great. Very efficient and once the initial cost is paid, very cheap to run as well. I manage to get my living room up to 21 degC with my little 5kw stove. The room is 4.5m x 5.5m x 3.5m, so not a small room by any means.

i bought a dunsley highlander , fantastic stove.
best price was from the stove depot in swansea, ask for craig ,if he is still there he will do a discount on the whole package.
stay away from the chinese stoves and be careful as some chinese ones are marketed with british or scottish names.
i have never regretted fitting one , every house should have one if possible.
good luck, Brian.

Considering one too but even with a chimney already in place the suggestion seems to be that for stove / chimney lining / installation price was it's gonna be at a bare minimum £2K and quite possibly an extra £1k on to of that?

Sound accurate?

Mine was £1500ish for the stove, hearth, and instillation, but I didn't have to get the chimney lined, so yes, that does sound about right. Its not cheap, but cheaper than installing and running central heating so...

I was just sayin.... That a budget installation can be effective. Bought our burner off ebay, coil of twin wall stainless flue liner from a boiler spares shop, made the register plates myself with the mig welder and the cowl was from Screwfix.

Installed in a day. sold the balance of the liner on ebay. Ended up under 500 quid all in.
2 seasons later and all is well. very cosy fire fed with building site offcuts.

Due for a flue sweep and a polish up with blacklead before we close down for the summer.
