Hi,

I'm about to move out of my current rented house. One condition of the tenancy is that I have the place fumigated, due to the fact that I have two dogs. Having never needed to have this done before I'm at a bit of a loss to determine exactly what level of fumigation service I should be looking at.

It is a three bed house and the one guy I've asked so far has quoted £200. Now, there is absolutely no infestation problem. The dogs have never had fleas or any other issues. To my mind this is belt and braces by the letting agent and therefore I'm looking for the cheapest possible satisfactory solution that won't see my deposit get hit hard. £200 seems too much.

The owner is moving back into the property with her two greyhounds. I have a good relationship with her, but the management agents are a pain in the arse.

So, anybody had to have this done before and have an idea of what cost I should be looking at? Are there differnt levels of service/treatment that qualify as fumigation? I'm imagining all I really need is a quick spray around of some sort of suitable chemical.

Any reputable company will not treat a property without sign of a flea infestation!! It's classed as a misuse of chemicals and against statuary conditions on chemical labels which are essentially law!
Best thing is to buy a flea trap, lightbulb over a sticky pad and if you don't find anything on then there is no need to treat.

Hope this helps??
