some boroughs are making it difficult to have short term lets

Southwark
Tower Hamlets
Islington
Kensington and Chelsea
Westminster
Camden

cant see how anyone could enforce it though and even then the fine should be more than covered... im not sure whether the above is in relation only to properties where there has been a material change in use of whether properties that are normally let via AST also are liable with planning permission...

How much you looking for it now? I'm working in the area, currently staying in nearby hotel which is driving me mad so looking to pick up an apartment somewhere - can move out if you get a big spender during the Olympics!

With fines up to £20,000.00 and a criminal record I think alot of people will struggle to cover that with the rent.

It is a Planning issue as the let would be considered a Holiday Let and therefore a Change of Use of the property (assuming it's a dwelling). This would also apply to properties that are already let as dwellings.

In reality it shouldn't be a problem as these lets will bring a posistive benefit to the imediate local area and to London and the UK as a whole. That said, since when did that approach work with Councils?

Westminster are taking it seriously. But then again the lets there are sufficient to cover the fines and it's going to provide a good income stream for them.

As to where to advertise? Search engine time. Might be worth starting off looking for Wimbledon Lets as this type of thing happens every year in SW18.
