Anyone watch this yesterday?

Wow, watching it now on catch-up and its interesting albeit upsetting viewing at times. I have lot of respect for the parents/carers of these children, a thankless and difficult job.

Having an autistic child I watched this with interest, summery in my mind is I need to move to the States as their level of education seems to far surpass anything over here.

I think the problem with a programme like this is as I live the same in day to day life it doesn't seem that unusual or hard work smile

Powerful viewing, hats off to anyone involved with a child with autism, it's something I just can't even begin to imagine.

Next week is about people with dementia , a bit closer to my heart as wife manages a care home and is trained to a high level of dementia care and understanding.

Such a cruel cruel world we live in sometimes.

I watched this earlier in the week and it was one of the most touching pieces of TV I have seen.

I've always been a fan of Louie's work but his output of the last few years, for me, has been a bit hit or miss, but this programme really was very high quality.

Looking forward to the next episode on Thursday which follows dementia care - I expect that to be more harrowing but, if handled with the same sensitivity as this episode, I'm sure it will be positive.

I am a massive fan of Louis and this docu was hard hitting and emotional but stunning. I have only experience with a friend's child who suffers from mild autism, it really opened my eyes to how bad it can actually be.

The clip with Louis sitting in the back of the car dancing with Brian was one of the most brilliant, happy TV moments this year.

Although I work with people with Autism every day, I actually found it quite upsetting. I guess it's because I can see the effects on the parent a lot more through this.

It's really easy for me to say this, but I really don't think Joey needed to be 'restrained' with that moment at school. There are so many factors and lots of things I havent seen, let alone the fact I haven't met Joey(!), but was it really needed? I would love to work with Joey!

I guess the staff have a pretty good idea of what was coming next and acted accordingly

+1 Louis is really a great personality who really understands his subjects. Despite the awkward exterior his genuine compassion shines through in all his work.

After some thought, that restraint on Joey was NOT on.

Ah well, what can I do (except moan on PH about it! wink)

You can think about it all you like but the people who work there have probably seen how violent he can be and as i said acted accordingly
