My better half has got her long service award from her company, a weekend in Dublin. Staying at the Clarion hotel, we've a voucher for a meal at Marco Pierre White's restaurant, a table booked at the hotel for a meal on Saturday and theatre tickets for Saturday night. What else must be seen and done? We are there from Friday to Sunday after the Bank Holiday.

Many thanks!

Which Clarion, the Liffey Valley one is a bit far out.

DO you drink Guinness, visit the Guinness Hop Store and do a Guinness tour. If Whiskey then Jameson in Smithfield.

Visit Henry Street, Grafton Street for shops and athmosphere.

Museum in Collins Barracks is interesting and free and has a nice coffee shop.

Get the DART out to Dun Laoire or Howth the other side.

Have a drink in the Bar in the Shelbourne Hotel or coffee in Bewleys Oriental Cafe.

Walk around Stevens Green, and Kildare Street where our parliment is located.

Cheers for that!

The Hotel is the Clarion City Hotel.

As much as we love a drink, Guinness and Whiskey are not to our tastes.

The shopping areas you mentioned, are they the main shopping areas or the quirky side street areas?

Grafton Street is the main shopping street, you won't find anything really that you won't find in the UK. Apart from say Bewley's Cafe. It's pedestrianised though so nice enough to walk along....which you can do in about 10 mins.

If you and/or your wife like art etc there are a few galleries around in that area that have local artists work in if that's your thing.

Kilmainham Gaol is well worth a visit. It's a bit out of the main city centre but is on the route of the hop-on, hop-off tourist buses that you see everywhere. It's really interesting and very good value for money.

I'd recommend the Guiness factory tour as well, even if you don't really like the stuff. There is a huge amount of history there, it's a fun couple of hours and you get a great view from the bar at the top.
