Sure . . . agree.

Why would one put a 90s v8 in a Nomad styled up with a 50s Vettes face???

Its not just any 90's V8. It's an LT5 from 1990-1995 ZR1.

Back in 1953, Chevrolet did produce a couple of 'concept' cars based on the Corvette. These included a sports coupe and a station wagon!!! Due to the original poor sales record of the Corvette, both of these ideas were scrapped and (as far as I am aware) none were produced for sale. Maybe this is a brave, but ultimately misguided attempt, to produce a piece of Corvette history?

Wasn't this Nomad thingy a project done by the same company who produces a kit to convert a C5 into a C1 lookalike ?

I agree the nomad looks funny with the early vette front end but my guess is that it is one hell of a fast nomad, nice polish job on the engine as well! would be interesting to see how the lt5 nomad/vette would do up against a ZR-1. The down under fellers lt5 swap looks very sanitary as does this one, in fact i am thinkin the lt5 looks damn gud in just about anything...but then again i'm infactuated with the lt5 motor...best darn motor i have ever owned bar none includin my 635 hp 502 cid marine blower motor in my 28' scarab!!! thinkin ill put a big block blower motor in my c4 1984 vette that i am having a hard time sellin this summer!!! keep u all posted on that one!!! vty chicago zr-1 www.zr1.net/ZR1_pictures.html click on pro truck for another lt5 transplant

"Not too many 400 HP V8's around which achieve 10 L/100km either. Max Torque is 508Nm at 4500 rpm but the thing puts out above 400Nm from 1250 rpm to 7200. Makes for a very interresting engine to drive.'

A damn fine job.

I managed as low as 3 to a gallon in Germany. 120 miles on a fulltank Best engine I've ever had under the 'hood' though.

From a ZR1.Neter :--

The *nomad* shown is an extremely nice
replica (body wise) of the '53 Waldorf Nomad, which has also had the ZR1
drivetrain added.

The Original *Waldorf Nomad*, was so called because it was one of the three
GM Motorama Corvette show cars, first displayed at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel
in NY in 1953. Based on the public response from those Motorama showings
(people were enthused for the Station Wagon version of the Corvette), GM
decided to implement the styling of the Waldorf Nomad on the full size
passenger car, and it debuted in early '55 as the '55 Nomad SW.

The original 'Waldorf Nomad' was a non-running display model, and was
destroyed by GM sometime later, but ever since then, various hobbyists have
attempted to reproduce the vehicle using parts from early Corvettes and
Nomads. Most were unsuccessful, or never finished.

The last few years, several have succeeded in doing so in 'one off' custom
cars. The one pictured in the Forum article you posted is one of the more
outstanding examples, as it additonal has the BEST drivetrain ever put in a
Corvette to provide go power!

It's an ugly car. Why make it like this? I can see a '53 Corvette estate could be a beauty . . .

Oh no, they are real:

Amazing what people do to their Vette . . . Some look OK in a customized kinda way.
