So who is the liar? Ex PM Brown or ex-editor of the Scum?

I fear reality would implode if you insisted on an either/or answer to your question.

It doesn't matter who's telling the truth, it only matters who Leveson believes and regardless of how unpopular Brown was/is with anyone involved in the inquiry, I would say Brooks et al are likely to come out worse. And that can only be a good thing.

I believe the Press would like to respond to Gordon Brown's musings under oath after the briefings that he never had any knowledge of...

Brown had tried to keep his family out of the meida spotlight. Unlike Blair who seemed to see Cherry and the kids as some sort of visual aid, Brown seemed to be worried about the effect his position might have on his children. So did he give full permission to Brookes to make his son's illness public?

Hmm, difficult one. Who to believe, eh?

Further, the Sun seems to be rejoicing that that the hospital, despite admitting that the length of time means that evidence no longer exists, feels that the press did not get access to the lad's medical records saying that their story, of getting it via a member of the public, vindicates them somehow.

Sticking in the knife and twisting into each other, what an endearing sight. I just hope that once its all settled the clips will be suitably edited to create much amusement. Exclude some witnesses of course.

Crikey, I haven't been this torn since Neil Hamilton & Mohammed Al-Fayed were battling it out.

I'm very thankful that a) I was never in the public eye and b) neither of my children had serious health problems. However if I was in Brown's position surely the best way to kill any curiosity would have been to make a discreet announcement then shut up. Suppressing news always excites interest.

It's like one of those games where you have to chose between shagging Mandelson or Prescott.

Well some seem to think Brown was not entirely honest about some things this morning.

Brown may have been a useless so and so, but I wouldn't say he was a dishonest man.

Brooks is a different matter. She's a nasty piece of work and I wouldn't trust her to tell the time.

I don't know for certain on every detail but in general I would believe Brown over Brooks I think.

Only one of them has been arrested for perverting the course of justice after all.

Wow. This could be one of the reasons why Labour are doing so well in the polls. People seem to have forgotten what a useless PM Brown was and the many criticisms (not just from the Murdoch press) of his character and mental stability whilst he was Chancellor and then PM.

I don't doubt that Brooks honesty can be called into question but I also have very little faith in the honesty of Brown.

Have you read 'Beyond the Crash'? - it's a work of fiction. I wouldn't say he was a liar like Blair, more a pyschopathic revisionist.

Dishonest means you deliberately tell untruths. I got the feeling that Brown always believed every word he said. No matter how ridiculous.

Ah, that's a bit different although I still think he was dishonest as well. In fact I just watched the first few minutes of his testimony and I couldn't help feeling he was rewriting the facts to suit his own agenda. Couldn't bear to watch more than 15 minutes.

Well if that's the case, he is mentally ill.
