I know most on here have the newer Astons, but after seeing 4.3 V8's selling in the low 30k's
I just wondered if my old DB7 VV will fall any more in value. Iv'e also seen DB9 coups now selling at only £5k above 7 vv prices. Besides the modern classic look of the 7, another reason i bought it
was because i was convinced they had bottomed out. I know you shouldn't buy a car for investment reasons, but with todays uncertain financial outlook you never know if you may have to sell your
p&j. Mind you the sort of money i am talking about really is peanuts. Went with a friend to buy an
SL merc at the weekend and in the same showroom there was an immaculate Vanquish for £69k. That near
£100k loss most have hurt!!

Other than very exceptional circumstances cars are always going to decrease in value. in my view AM I think also try to artificially maintain pricing levels at times whereas if you actually looked at the cars themselves overtime they are naturally going to decrease as options become more and more advanced which sometimes sadly AM can't update fast enough. I think AM can only rely on the badge and the Britishness for a set amount of time (sadly I doubt this will help it attack the China market who probably couldn't give a monkey's about James Bond), however it needs to keep up with the advances in the industry at the top end otherwise I can only envisage prices will fall more, particularly as AM try to build more cars for increased revenue. And don't get me wrong I know people keep saying well the design of AM are so amazing why should they change, but have you actually seen anything radical from AM recently (I am avoiding talking about the Cygnet)? Even the new Vanquish has the base of the old DB9/Virage base. Is this a problem? For a small manufacturer of course not, but they will need to adapt to the future and bring out new designs with a new unique selling point to keep interest.

Trevor, my old DB7 VV recently sold at Works Service for thirty grand! The best cars are still making good money, not everyone wants a Vantage... well, not adults or the well-bred anyway!

And your VV manual is definitely one of the best cars smile

Lewis, out of interest do you know if it was Nigel from AMOC who bought your car?
I was speaking to him at the last meeting and he said that he had bumped into you
and asked you about your car. He was going to the auction and was very serious about buying it.
He showed everyone the catalogue and was very keen. He was going to lay up or put his DB4
into a museum and wanted a DB7 vv.

Well well... That is interesting! I met Nigel in the services at Silverstone a couple of months ago, Pommehogster and I were dining at the BRDC with the great and good - he wanted a Volante so came and had a sniff around my DB9, think his wife liked it!

We got chatting about the auction and I told him about my 7VV, he must have a very good memory! It is a fine car, I almost bought it back!!

I really hope he has bought it, he's a true enthusiast and it's a great car for the money, especially as a foil to his DB4.

Small world eh?(but i wouldn't want to paint it). There is a nice little car show at
Newplace park in Framfield this Sunday, I hope to go and I think Nigel will be there too.
Who knows, he may even be in the Yeti mobile. Will let you know if he bought it.
