First thought is the inertia switch.
Otherwise, what or where is the "clicking sound"? Could be an electrical problem, and the sound is a relay fluttering. Check your earths!

Find the fuel pump relay and wire a test light into pin 30. If the light goes out when the click occurs try replacing the relay.

Hi Rens

The same thing use to happen on my Giugiaro turbo. Sounds like it may the actual fuel pump itself may be on its way out (replaced my twice in 100,000 miles)

I use to get under the car to and gently tap it a few times with handle of screwdriver to bring it back to life, worked for a while before I had to replace the unit. It looks like SE is slightly harder to change out.

Check that you have a spark on each plug, recent problem similar symptoms led to rotor arm earthing. Fixed with new arm no problems since.
