Looks a little like a hornbeam leaf, however it just needs murdering before you mow.

Got kids?

Say that you buried some treasure under one of the those plants before you went on holiday, but can't remember which one. biggrin

...might destroy your lawn a bit, but looks a little mossy so could do with a rake anyway

That looks like the same plant that staged a takeover big for my allotment whilst I was away. I just pull it out.

Disagree with the Hornbeam,or at least my Hornbeam leaves aren't like that.

Any trees in the vicinty,my back lawn suffers with growth coming up from the roots of a cherry tree, although regular mowing keeps them at bay.

I would be surprised if they'd survive regular mowing - whatever they are!

Probably, I'm getting a lot of suckers off a plum tree this year and at quite a distance. Never had them before, must be all the rain...

You have an outbreak of Chenopodium album otherwise known as Fat Hen.

Regular mowing will see it off. Don't let it flower and seed.

pull as many as you can out making sure you remove the roots then apply a lawn feed such as evergreen 4 in 1 which includes a selective weed killer should do the trick smile

If you mow the lawn regularly it will eventually die off - only lawn weeds can survive the mowing regime.

Try treating your lawn with Verdone - excellent at killing off the unwanted stuff - use it on mine - not a dandelion, clover, or any other weed in sight.
