Hi all,

Just bought a Micra K11, the coolant bottle needs replacing. Upon trying to source one, I've see that it is "just" an overflow reservoir, which isn't pressurised.
Can someone with more knowledge than me confirm this?

well it depends if it's the header tank or overflow bottle you are referring to.

A lot of modern cars have both.

As I recall they're just an overflow/filler bottle. To be sure, if it's part of the pressurised system it will have a spring loaded rad cap on it, if it isn't it'll just have a plastic flip top or similar. Either way, it's still a necessary component and should be replaced! Hope this helps.

It's just a coolant resevoir. Not pressurised. The top of the radiator is the expansion tank and that's pressurised.

We have 2 K11's in the family. The tanks get very fragile over the years, and I recently poked a hole through the top of one of them. You'll find most of the ones in breakers are just as bad. All I did to fix it was cut a disc out of the plastic cap from an old spray paint can, and superglued it over the hole.

Thanks, I managed to find a good one in the scrappy, but I see now how fragile they are...
