So, I'm pretty sure mine has given up the ghost as I have very little pedal feel, hard to engage gears and is loosing fluid (had to top up master cylinder).

Have got it home, but is this a specialist job to replace or an "on the drive" one?

I understand it's a cow to access?

Anyone on here near Maidstone that can help as I don't want to drive too far?

Part numbers/availability?

Try Neil Johnson. He's in your area and knows these cars well.

if you can get the gearbox out then its a drive job.

Not easy but can be done.

you can buy the slave cylinder direct from the states, SNL performance are good sellers and are cheap at approx £100 shipped and taxed, failing that monkfish can supply

Slave cylinder is in the bellhousing, so its a box out job

Are you loseing lots of clutch oil ? Is the oil really black in reservoir ? May just need to bleed the system out.

If you need someone to do for you I work in Maidstone, get the bits from the fish & I can fit, if your losing that much fluid it may well need the clutch doing too though as it will be contaminated by fluid.
Spigot bearing & an easy bleed kit are worthwhile doing while the box is out smile

Joy of joys...recently had an LS7 clutch fitted so really don't want that expense.

Not losing masses of fluid, but there looks to be a bit of fluid on bellhousing hence me diagnosing slave cylinder.

Having said that, I've found a few things amiss since having my car returned from a certain someone. It may just be a loose nut like the ones I found on driveshaft after having diff fitted, but don't suppose I will know until the box is away from engine!

Not going to name and shame...yet! But you know who you are!!!

Neil, I'll be in touch.

Is there an upgraded one worth having?

What colour is the fluid ?

The reason I ask is I had a slave blow and take out the bell housing and clutch, it happened at high speed, ive had the LS7 fitted and all put back together, box was fine, was on its head for 2 days making sure it wasnt leaking fluid.

Fluid is the usual black gloop you get with Monaro after driving them our of the showroom.

The fluid loss is the worry and the lack of pedal pressure

Not a happy bunny :-(

Why on earth would someone fit a clutch & not do the slave while the box it out yikes
Hopefully the fluid has not done the new clutch

This was all that was left of mine when it blew,

a week before going to lemans it was a race against the clock, are you in contact with the people who fitted your clutch ?

par for the course it would seem. I had a driveshaft fall off while I was driving after a shop visit!

How much has it lost out the reservoir ? I would think it would have to have lost all of it to show around the bell housing, if it is black gloop that will be the reason for the lack of pedal feel and difficulty with the gears, in one way it could be just needing a complete fluid change but if that does cure it and level stays the same, the oil in bell housing might be engine oil from rear crank seal frown

Either way box and bell will need to come off may be worth doing both while out.

Neil...let's just say nothing would surprise me now!!! Most unimpresed.

Mr Ingram...I wonder if it was the same shop...?

I drove from Miadstone to Sittingbourne and felt the pedal loose feel...managed to get to work at Barking by which time it was almost impossible to engage gears...was having to go back to my ERF driving days with the twin-splitter box and getting the revs right to engage...popped bonnet and res was empty...topped up with fluid and pumped it though...got home to Maidstone and now half way down reservoir...Must be slave right?

Sounds like it especially if you have no sign of fluid under or inside the car

The Fish always recommend a new slave if you are having a clutch fitted. They will have them in stock.

I hope the fluid has not buggered your new clutch plate.
