This is goodness and means I might decide to fly with them again.
I never did see the benefit of a free for all never mind the crowding at the gate but people getting on and standing around trying to figure the best seat always caused a hold up.

So good for Easyjet - and their legroom in any seat is better than that of Monarch.

I'm glad they are bringing this forward, the herd mentality brought about by non allocated seats is sickening and brings out the worst of human behaviour. It's also telling that Ryanair is the last airline to care about this too

Never had a problem with unallocated seats themselves, but the herding's definitely become more and more unsavoury over the years, so it sounds like a good, well thought out move!

Agree - it's a good idea.

My last EJ flight was amusing though. The people who had paid for speedyboarding were not amused to see the queue of 10 people in 'normal' boarding behind.

Cabin crew asked us to spread out for balance when on the plane.....

About time, absolutely hate the free for all on these flights.

Speedy boarding always gets me to the destination quicker.

I always thought that apart from earning a few quid from speedy boarders, the main aim was to make sure everyone was at the gate and ready to go asap. Budget airlines rely heavily on quick turnarounds so I thought this is great for them to have passengers all ready and fighting for their seats? What happens if people are allocated seats and are still buggering about in the airport while others are waiting on the plane? Presumable if they haven't got checked in luggage they can just go without them but if they have surely it is going to cause delays in offloading it?

I see where you're coming from and have always shared the same reservations; however, having thought about it there's three types of people on EJ: The tts that push their way to the front (and then hold the queue up looking for the 'perfect' seat) despite they fact everyone will arrive at the same time, the tts that hang around and turn up late and the normal folk...

My point is that the tts are two distinct groups - the first group will be dealt with by seat allocation, and the other group will be dealt with as they are now - either turn up on time or miss the flight!

I agree that unloading their cases will be a pain and cause delay to the normal folk, but this tends to happen anyway (particularly given a 'drunk' destination)!

All in my experience and opinion of course! smile

I would say 99.9% of people are sensible and turn up in good time anyway. The people that are late/don't turn up would do so regardless.

At least it makes life a bit more pleasant for the rest of us. I had allocated seats on an Easyjet flight earlier this year and it seemed a lot more relaxed.

This is a good thing.

Not only will it stop the ridiculous scramble for the same frigging thing (a seat) that accompanies every EasyJet flight but it will also mean that the smirks will be wiped off the faces of the morons who act like VIP guests because they have paid the few quid extra to get their own bus the 20 metres to the same plane and seats as everyone else.
