Hi

We have a terraced cottage in a village on the outskirts of Glasgow. It was the wifes dream and my nightmare (old property lots of trouble). Anyway most of the bills are now out of the way except 1 - boiler. This needs replacing - currently external oil boiler since village doesnt have gas.

Does anyone have any experience of converting and or using electric heating? I know its far more expensive to run but I am thinking of renting the property and already have the the electricity on a pay as you go card.

Thanks in advance
Richard

Im in the process at the moment of converting a flat in Aberdeen from electrical storage heating to a water filled radiator system. We dont have any gas either so the water is heated by a unit a bit like a power shower. Works really well in the flat next door.

Fitted quite a few of the electric boilers noted above running a wet system.
You need to be able to get a dirty great power cable to it from your consumer unit, so make sure where you plan to site it can accommodate this.

Physical size wise they're quite small at ~6" x ~6" x ~40" or so from memory.

Quite when working. Depending on distance from consumer unit, they need their own mini fuse board for isolation, but these aren't huge.
